Why do I play basketball?

How has basketball changed my life?

How has basketball changed my life?

Ever since I was the age of three, I played basketball.  I always loved the sport and throughout all of the years it has easily been the one that I loved above all.  As I grew up, I kept playing more and learning, but at the same time growing as a person because I would not always win.  This drew me to love the game even more, this is why I play.  I love the competitive nature and the toughness that the game brings.  I fell in love with the flashiness and variety that the game brought.  From knocking down a three, blocking a shot, or dunking it always got people hyped to see a game and it had the same effect on me.  That was all I wanted to do ever since I was little.  I wanted to be able to go out there and do what everyone was doing on TV.  I wanted to hit a buzzer beater three to win a game, I wanted to pin someone's shot on the backboard or hit it into the stands, and I especially wanted to dunk on somebody.  I wanted to help lead a team to victory and become a name that everyone knew.  Basketball has helped me though some of the hardest times in my life, that's why I play basketball, because without it I don't know where I'd be today.

How has basketball changed my life?

Ever since I was young basketball impacted me in many ways.  Teaching me life lessons along the way and teaching me things that I would never forget that make me into who I am today.  Things that can be used in the classroom, out in the world, on the court, at home or anywhere I may be.  Through basketball I’ve meet so many people from kids, to parents, to coaches and mentors.  I have made best friends through this game and even relationships that I know will last a lifetime.  When I was eight I first meet Coach Frank Oleynick, a former Seattle Supersonics player, at one of his camps.  Ever since that day many years ago I have created a bond with him that I know will last me forever and I am extremely grateful for that.  He pushed me to get better everyday and taught me stuff no one else could.  I looked up to him then and I will continue to for the rest of my life.  At the end of my junior year of high school I met Coach Dave Taylor.  Just within the few years that I have known him, I already have grown a tremendous relationship with him.  After knowing him for less that a year I was able to have been given the opportunity to go and play in LA on his DTX National Team that summer before my senior year.  Those tournaments and meeting Coach Taylor changed my life and for this I can’t thank him enough.  Basketball has changed my life for the better, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
